We provide compassionate care and innovative healthcare solutions and empowerment to improve the well-being of everyone in our community.
Generational Health Behaviour Changers Foundation is a Registered Ghana-based non-governmental organization dedicated to improving the health and well-being of underserved communities through compassionate care, health education, and sustainable interventions.
Founded in December 2019 by visionary advocate Mr. James Kwofie, the Foundation was born out of a desire to address growing health disparities in deprived areas across Ghana. Our journey began with a comprehensive health needs assessment conducted in March 2020 by a team of public health experts, senior nurses, and professionals in Assakae, a community in Takoradi, Western Region.

As a single mother with limited healthcare access, Ama Serwaa had never had a proper wellness screening until attending our medical outreach in Tarkwa. When our team discovered early signs of hypertension, we provided immediate education and referral for treatment. Today, Ama is successfully managing her health and educating other women in her community about the importance of regular screenings.
After losing both parents at a young age, Kwabena Mensah's education seemed impossible despite his academic excellence. Our foundation provided him with a scholarship and enrolled him in our vocational training program in Sekondi. Today, Kwabena is a certified electrician with a stable income who mentors other youth and volunteers at our health outreach programs.
Struggling with reproductive health issues and lacking proper education, Mariam Fuseini attended our women's health empowerment workshop in Apremdo. After receiving free screening and comprehensive education on menstrual hygiene and family planning, Mariam now confidently educates her daughters and has established a women's support network that has reached over 100 women in her community.
At Assakae Methodist Junior High School, 200 sanitary pads were distributed during our menstrual hygiene awareness drive. Students received essential education on menstrual health, equipping them with confidence and dignity. The session sparked discussions that continue to empower young girls and break stigmas around menstruation.
Whindo Methodist Junior High School received 100 sanitary pads as part of our health outreach. Alongside the distribution, students were educated on reproductive health and hygiene practices. The initiative helped many young girls better understand their bodies, paving the way for improved confidence and well-being.
Three schools in Apremdo—Myohaung Barracks Basic School, Defense Basic School, and Myohaung Forces Basic School—benefited from our women's health outreach. 150 sanitary pads were distributed and students received vital menstrual hygiene and women empowerment education. These sessions helped open dialogue and boost young girls' self-esteem.
Through our comprehensive vocational training program, 23 individuals have gained valuable skills across multiple trades including building construction, plumbing, mechanical fitting, tiling, electrical work, hairdressing, and dressmaking. From 9 electrical trainees to 4 aspiring dressmakers, our program has equipped these young people with practical skills that provide sustainable livelihoods and contribute to community development.
In 2025, GHBC Foundation provided comprehensive family planning services and counseling to 135 women of reproductive age at no cost. These essential services included contraceptive education, reproductive health counseling, and access to family planning methods. Our initiative has empowered women to make informed decisions about their reproductive health while reducing maternal health risks in underserved communities.
Breaking down barriers to healthcare access, GHBC Foundation facilitated free National Health Insurance registration for over 200 less privileged young people and elderly community members. This initiative has provided these vulnerable populations with access to essential healthcare services, ensuring that financial constraints no longer prevent them from receiving medical care when needed.
Our comprehensive HIV testing, screening, education, and counseling program reached over 100 community members who voluntarily participated. Beyond testing, we provided crucial education about HIV prevention and offered compassionate counseling services. For the two individuals who tested positive, we ensured immediate linkage to care and ongoing support, demonstrating our commitment to dignity and comprehensive healthcare for all.
Going beyond basic healthcare, GHBC Foundation offers comprehensive health screenings including malaria testing with free antimalarial drugs and painkillers, blood group testing, blood sugar monitoring, and H-pylori testing. These preventive health services have enabled early detection of various conditions, ensuring timely treatment and preventing more serious health complications in our communities.
Our youth empowerment initiative provides Social Behaviour Change manuals to young adults while delivering targeted education on teenage pregnancy prevention. Through interactive workshops and educational materials, we're equipping the next generation with knowledge and tools to make informed decisions about their health, relationships, and futures, creating lasting positive change in communities across Ghana.
As a single mother with limited access to healthcare, I had never had a proper wellness screening until I attended one of the Foundation's medical outreach programs. They checked my blood pressure, educated me on women's health, and referred me for further care when they discovered early signs of hypertension. Today, I'm managing my health better, and I owe that to their care and compassion.
I lost both parents at a young age and had no means of continuing my education, even though I was always top of my class. Generational Health Behavioural Changes Foundation stepped in with a scholarship and enrolled me in a vocational training program. Now, I'm a certified electrician with a stable income. Their support gave me hope and a future.
I attended one of the Foundation's HIV/AIDS awareness campaigns in my community. The session was informative, respectful, and eye opening. I got tested for the first time, received counseling, and learned how to protect others and myself. It empowered me to speak openly about sexual health with my peers and become a peer advocate myself.
As someone who had never donated blood before, I participated in one of the Foundation's blood donation exercises out of curiosity. The experience was professional, well-organized, and deeply rewarding. A few weeks later, I was told that my blood had helped save the life of a child. That moment changed my perspective, and I've become a regular donor ever since.
I used to struggle with reproductive health issues but had no access to proper education or services. During a women's health empowerment workshop organized by the Foundation, I received free screening and comprehensive education on menstrual hygiene and family planning. It was the first time I felt seen and supported as a woman. The knowledge I gained has improved my well-being and that of my daughters.
